The 1992-96 PDSR coalition government, the 'red qudrilateral', was made up of PDSR, nationalist magyarophobe Funar's PUNR, nationalist/national communist 'Greater Romania Party' and a minor neocommunist party

Corneliu Vadim Tudor, for so long the leader of the Romanian far-right, was a PCR member, a successful writer under socialism and extensively praised ceausescu before and after 1989

Georgescu's parents were both party members, they lived in Cotroceni (nomenclaturist area) and he himself was allowed to go abroad to the USA and the UK in the 1980s, a privilege only reserved for those with fantastic party connections and entailed heavy vetting if not recruitment by the Securitate. He also got a government job straight away in 1991, at the time the only people recruited either had connections to the Securitate or their parents did.

Sosoaca too did well under socialism, her uncle was the president of the Prahova Tribunal for about 12 years, which obviously meant party member. One of her first jobs was as former personal advisor on legal issues to Eugen Dijmărescu, a party member, collaborator and minister of finance in 1991
