But there is another widely shared delusional comfort blanket - amongst right-leaning journalism and its online ecospjere - the idea that all this has been forced onto a hostile electorate. Whereas (groupthink and hive-mindedness being what it always is) those shared assumptions have diffused themselves widely amongst the tertiaty-educated professional middle class. And diffused themselves to tens of millions.
I recently wrote on this theme (but in an American context) about...."a 'conspiracy-theory' narrative where everything gets blamed on a so-called ‘Woke elite’. This is a malign elite who (so we are told) have been ‘in control’ of it all. A kind of Wokievellian Illuminati. In this telling of our 21st Century hyper-progressive dystopia, Woke reality has simply been foisted on a great mass of grounded and well-adjusted citizenry. Yes, they have put up with it, but entirely unwillingly. Hence the proposed answer to the problem is for this ‘Woke elite’ to be vanquished by new swashbuckling Trump-type administrations in order to Make Everything Great Again.
.The more dispiriting truth is that if there is such a thing as a ‘Woke elite’, it is a very big group of people. One which perhaps comprises a majority of all those Westerners who have been through tertiary education. That’s one hell of a lot of people to label an elite. Some imagine it is a pyramid but this is misleading for obvious reasons when its nature is known & the symbols they employ for millennia are considered more fully.

Charlotte Gill uncovers the money trail involved in NGOs and charities, many of which are functional insurgents within our government. Typical of 'that class', thinking they know better than us Oikes.
I agree with the sentiment of this endeavour. The public certainly needs to be made aware of the government-advocacy complex, but what are the policy prescriptions? Presumably just preventing government from funding overtly political and advocacy-led organisations? What more can be done beyond this from a legislative and policy perspective? (As an aside, we absolutely need to abolish Gift Aid. Why should the taxpayer subsidise your random, potentially dodgy charity without knowing who they are or what they do? Last time I checked it totalled £500m a year) In any case, looking forward to seeing the report. Important work.

The election is very likely to be late next year, if the markets intervene, and yes the teams led by Danny Kruger & James Orr are lining up the whole game plan. Don't worry too much about 'uncle Rupert', he seems to be getting a lot of online boost from various Regime aligned entities and individuals but how that cuts across in the last days before the actual vote remains to be seen.
