There is no mention of any type of fuel here-- presumably the bodies of Jews are flammable by themselves (were they really that corpulent so late in the war?)

Parts of it read like the stage direction for a modern interpretation of a Wagner opera:

Wire was stretched along either side of the path, which was lined by guards in black uniforms and SS men in gray standing shoulder to shoulder. The path was covered with white sand and as the victims marched forward with upraised arms they saw the fresh imprint of bare feet on the sand:>>
If I were inclined to be disparaging I might say that the whole book is a fantasy that could only come from the mind of the very Jewiest of Jews. But what would I know? I'm just a stupid goy and the most I could ever aspire to be is a servant of the Jewish race.

When you read "the hall of treblinka" (see my other comment above) it's clear that Grossman is either a fantasist or extremely gullible, and is driven by Jewish ethnic self-interest.
