Poujade is the father of populism, which boils down to resentment at elites doing stuff we don't want and making us pay for it; and, across the board, refusing to put in their manifestos stuff we do want.

“Reform’s position is an endogenous expression of the British volonté générale.”

Bold statement for a party on 23% whose leader is disliked by a majority of the public. It’s more true to say Reform’s position is a (somewhat sectarian) expression of their core vote, who tend towards suburban and rural pensioners.
