Showbiz Reform declares for ‘mass deportations’
In a previous J’accuse piece, it was suggested that ‘Reform are getting better, and moving to the right’. I concur with that analysis, and probably the best example of this so far was their recent ‘Mass Deportations’ press conference. (It is notable that Farage is now happily using this phrase, despite being visibly uncomfortable with Rupert Lowe’s use of it less than eight months ago.) The press conference itself was a masterclass, and praised as such by mainstream journalists, featuring a mock-up departure board with flights to various countries: Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iran, and so on. The difference between the quality of showbiz Reform’s press conferences and boring Tory press conferences at think tanks is obvious.
