I do not think that many cyclists are aware that the pedestrian is perfectly entitled to walk on the cycle path. It is only other vehicles which are prohibited. The vituperative wrath of thwarted cyclists indeed seems to spring from some neurosis. It is sad that there is such a strong political push to punish users of the car, one of the most liberating and valuable contributions to the good life. The freedom that they provide is of course one of the key reasons why they must be prohibited.

Clearly I am not the only one who has had been quietly walking on a sidewalk only to have a bicycle suddenly and unexpectedly whiz by my ear. In Canada it is also illegal to ride on the sidewalk, but good luck seeing that enforced. At least you can hear a car coming, although that is less likely given the stupid whine from electric vehicles.

This will only get worse with so-called e-bikes and scooters, which really should be banned. Just yesterday one burst into flames on the Toronto subway:

The article also captures that particular smug aggression of bikers (typical of all leftists these days, really). A few years ago one attacked an Ontario politician in his car. The biker lost but the politician was charged with criminal negligence causing death (happily the charges were withdrawn).

Although I sympathise with most of your points, I think you've been a little economical with the truth concerning the incident with the pedestrian and cyclist that was killed, in that the pedestrian practically pushed the cyclist off the pavement and onto the road and into the path of an oncoming lorry.

I think the pedestrian was lucky to only get 3 years, or does having cerebral palsy mean you can push cyclists into oncoming traffic and kill them?
