I don't know how it is over there now, but the Germans used to do cracking museums. And not just in Museuminsel (God, those limewood sculptures and the prehistory stuff.) The upstairs at the Leipzig Rathaus has or had a wonderful collection of religious artefacts. Not a patronising label in sight. Everything has to illustrate some yawnsome politicism in the Yookay; as Susan Sontag of all people said of feminism years ago: the whole of history is the history of the suppression of women -And? ...Anyhow, enough antiwoke slop: Reform will, it is hoped, insist on mass museum 'dundancies, substituting proper connoisseurs of objects.

The last museum I visited in England was the Royal Armories Museum in Leeds some years ago as I have an interest in firearms. It was a large airy modern building with few exhibits and an emphasis on medieval armor but little on arms. The display of small arms was - erm - small. A glass box filled with, obvious to any arms enthusiast, toy replica pistols with a plaque telling us this was "an example of arms taken off the streets by police to keep us safe". As a school-boy in the early 1950s. my friend and I loved to visit the Science Museum in Kensington that was a feast of intelligent and wonderful displays including stunning large models of ships and steam locomotives in wood-framed glass cases that typified Britain's industrial and scientific achievements. There were very few 'interacting' displays and simply descriptions of exhibits in adult language. With polished wood floors, silence, and a few smart uniformed curators to oversee and help with any enquiry that commanded fitting respect. No vending machines of course and no unruly gawping children running around unknowing and disinterested in the exhibits. Britain then was civilised and respectful with no parental worries of their children disappearing for the day to travel unattended in a safe England of the English to experience it and learn of it.

I can confirm that the museum was like that since at least 2015. The lack of guns is in stark relief in the “Peace Room” when you get to have a good ogle at the throne made of AK47s which probably doesn’t have the effect the artist desired.

Interestingly Jonathan Ferguson at that museum has enjoyed minor youtube stardom from showing off the small arms collection in the back rooms, so perhaps this will drive change

I should have mentioned that, at the Leeds Royal Armories Museum, there was no reference what-so-ever of the Rev. James Forsyth who, whilst working at the Royal Armory in the Tower, he invented and developed his revolutionary copper percussion cap that took the world's armies from flint-lock muskets to infinitely more efficient percussion-lock muskets, rifles, and pistols that lasted for decades until the self-contained cartridge displaced it. It's plain to see that the Rev. James Forsyth has been and, as Winston Churchill is about to be, consigned to the 'Memory Hole' at the Minitrue.

An interesting article. Regarding defeating Woke, I believe that abolishing the Heritage Lottery Fund and creating a new funding body that is responsible to a minister rather than being a non-departmental public body is essential. The current Heritage 2033 of the Heritage Lottery Fund plan aims to further entrench Woke whether in environmental aims or diversity, and it is this which is likely causing the surge in naffness.

Regarding some of the naffness, I have a vague theory which I would like to hear the author's opinion about. From my distant studies in museology, I remember John Falk's typology of museum visitors. I would like to apologise if I sound a bit ignorant here, but I believe that part of the problem may come from trying to combine Woke with John Falk's typology and misunderstanding some of those groups. The combination of inclusivity and trying to capture as many Explorers and Facilitators as possible may explain why it is so decontextualised and dumb. I likely fall more into the "professionals and hobbyist" type, and so I am biased, but I think there may need to be some rethinks in how displays are done, regardless of Woke or not. I think trying to focus more on the "professionals and hobbyist" type may help attract more of the "explorers" and "facilitators". This would help get rid of the problems of naffness regardless of whether the displays are vaguely Woke or not.

I almost expect to be fully woked as soon as I pass the threshold of these corrupted Museums. Could these dolts put on a display of the "delights" of Marxism and the many millions of innocents' that have been murdered in it's unholy name.

No chance as socialists cannot stomach the truth
